How to Make DIY Farmhouse Tiered Tray Mini Signs Tutorial

In this tutorial, we will show you how to create DIY farmhouse tiered tray decor using paint & vinyl.

Christmas Font Bundle from So Fontsy

This easy farmhouse decor project requires very few supplies.

You can also pick up items very inexpensively at the craft store or dollar store that you can use like small canvases and wooden tags.

Look for different sizes and shapes of wood.

We used a 5 x 5-inch piece of scrap wood leftover from another project - perfect for a farmhouse tiered tray sign!

We painted our mini farmhouse signs with chalk paints that have a matte/flat finish.

You can use a foam brush to paint ...

... or even spray paint

Indoor decor doesn't require a sealer but we find that adhesive vinyl sticks much better to a sealed surface. We cover a fast and easy way to seal wood (and canvas) in this > blog post.

Simple phrases work best for farmhouse tiered tray signs.

We used our cutting machine to cut out the text in adhesive vinyl using fonts from the Christmas Font Bundle.

Weed the vinyl decals.

We like using a matte finish vinyl, such as Oracal 631 (removable vinyl is fine for indoor use). Oracal 651 (permanent vinyl) also comes in black and white.

Use transfer tape to transfer the weeded vinyl design onto the sign and burnish it down really well.

Add the finishing touches to your DIY farmhouse tiered tray!
