How to Sublimate a Mug

This easy, beginner friendly sublimation tutorial will show you how to sublimate on a mug.

Open a design software (Silhouette Studio pictured) you can print from and type your custom text (or open your sublimation design).

Size it to fit on the mug.

We're creating a farmhouse style mug using the Simply Done Right font. You can grab this font in the Farmhouse Font Bundle.

Mirror the design and print onto sublimation paper with a sublimation printer.

Trim away excess paper from around the design or text.

Use a few pieces of heat resistant tape to tightly secure the sublimation transfer onto the mug surface.

Insert the mug into the press (handle up), close the press, and press for 250 seconds at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

While the mug is pressing, prepare your next mug for sublimation, if you’re personalizing more than one mug.

When it’s done pressing, remove the mug from the press with a potholder; the mug will be extremely hot!

Carefully remove the paper.

It's that easy! Look how beautiful this one of a kind, farmhouse style personalized mug turned out!
