Cricut Tutorial: How To Write With More Than One Color

Did you know that you can draw your design with your Cricut Maker in multiple colors?! Why, yes you can....and it is SO easy!

How do you write with multiple colors on Cricut?

With only a few simple steps, you can draw your design using your Cricut Maker. This allows you to create beautiful drawings, custom cards & invitations, calendars & more.

Most Cricut crafters are familiar with sketch pens, but if not don't worry! Just grab a set of Cricut Pens and follow along! It's so simple & this skill will expand your creativity, I promise!

First, open up a new canvas and upload your design.

I am using this beautiful tulip wreath design from the Single Line Wreath Bundle, which is part of the HUGE February 2020 Bundle. Get all 197 designs & fonts for only $19.99 - but hurry, it retires on Feb. 29th!

I resized the wreath to 10" and then made 3 duplicates.

We are going to use 4 colors, so you will need a total of 4 layers.

Select all layers and click ALIGN: Center. This stacks the designs on top of one another.

With all 4 layers selected, change the line type to Draw.

Cricut Design Space has a very cool feature called the Contour Tool. It allows you to hide or reveal different parts of your SVG files so you can tell your machine which parts to cut, or in this case, draw.

---> We also encourage you to check out this tutorial - Cricut Design Space: The Contour Tool Explained.

Select the 1st layer: Midnight.

Click on Contour in the bottom right hand corner of your canvas.

Change the view to fit your window. 100% or 75%, whichever you prefer.

Click Hide All Contours. It automatically leaves one part of the design colored.

Choose all parts of your design that you would like to have drawn in midnight. Close the window.

Now select the next layer: Jade.

Click on the Contour button.

Resize to fit in your window (100% or lower) and click Hide All Contours. Now select all parts of the design that you would like to be drawn in Jade green. I chose the stems and outer parts of leaves.

When you are finished close the Contour window.
