Where to Place a Monogram on a Shirt
In this tutorial, we'll show you where to place the monogram on a shirt for left chest designs.
You’ll find the varsity split monogram SVG we used for this shirt in the Monogram Bundle.
Monogram Placement
Lay the shirt flat. Imagine a vertical line that comes straight down from the side of the collar.
Imagine another horizontal line that comes straight out from the armpit seam.
Where these two lines meet is where to place the monogram design.
You may feel the need to move the monogram in toward the arm, but don’t place the monogram too close to the arm area or it will be caught in the armpit when the shirt is worn.
Monogram Size
The recommended size for left chest monograms range about 3.5 to 4 inches. Here's a simple trick to help you decide on the size:
Open a design program you can print from (like Silhouette Studio) and format your monogram. Make several copies in different sizes to find the size best for your project.
Cut the monogram out of heat transfer vinyl. Remember to mirror the HTV before cutting.
Pre-press the shirt for 2-3 seconds on your heat press.
Next, place the weeded HTV monogram design on the shirt. You can use a straight edge to help find where the imaginary vertical and horizontal lines meet.
Press the HTV for 10 – 15 seconds, then remove carrier sheet.
Wear your monogram proudly. Go Falcons!
