With a few simple materials, you can create beautiful farmhouse tobacco basket inspired art that is sure to be the conversation piece of any room.

What you need:

• Thin Flat Reed Coil, 5/8" Wide

• Wooden Frame

• Paint

• Hot glue gun

• Clip

• Printer and Paper to print the interchangeable art pieces.

 

I used the adorable Hello designs from the Beginner Farmhouse Bundle that includes 210 beautiful SVGs and 4 farmhouse fonts!   First you paint the frame. I choose a nice bold black. As I thought it would be great contrast to the basket details I will add later.

 Next, remove the backing from the frame.

 After you have this done it is time to cut the reed to just overlap the center of the frame (Enough space for a dab of hot glue). For my size frame I cut 20 pieces, 10 for each direction. 

Next you will begin weaving the reed.

 Once you have the reed weaved you will place the frame on top, spread out and make the reed even.

 After you have it placed where you would like place a heavy object on the reed. This will help keep it in place while you add the glue and place the frame. When using hot glue you will need to work fast before it drys, you could also use other types of glue if you prefer to not feel like you are in a race against the glue.

 Now you have the faux tobacco basket created - measure the size you would like your prints to be and add a clip.

  

Then it is time to prep your prints. I like creating 8.5x11 art boards in Adobe Illustrator. Then making a square the size i would like my prints to be (mine are 6.5" squares). From there I place my designs, export as a pdf and print and cut.
