Bundle promotions in this blog post have ended - find the designs we used in this project HERE.

How to Finish Backs of Arabesque Tile Ornaments

In this tutorial, we'll show you how to finish the back of arabesque tiles so it looks just as beautiful as the front!

We are using a snowman and gnome design for our arabesque tile ornaments, which you can find in the September 2022 SVG & Font Bundle

The arabesque ceramic tiles are from Lowe's.

Cut your designs out of permanent adhesive vinyl, such as Oracal 651.

Grab some Glitter HTV or Flocked HTV for the back. Regular HTV is too thin and might not look as nice.

Cut the glitter or flocked HTV into the shape of the ornament with your cutting machine - using your Cricut, Silhouette Cameo or ScanNCut.

Weed away the excess material.

To add a ribbon hanger, we used E6000 to glue the ribbon to the top of the back of the ornament. Let this dry completely.

Apply the Glitter HTV to the back of the tile with your iron.

Use firm pressure, and make sure to press the iron over the entire piece of HTV.

Remove the carrier sheet.

Be careful because the tile will become hot, so we used these silicone finger protectors.

Use your silicone-protected finger to press the hot HTV into the grooves on the back of the ornament.

If there are areas where the glitter HTV did not fully adhere, replace the carrier sheet and press again. Repeat the steps above until the glitter HTV is fully adhered.

If you want to use a jewelry bail hanger, press the glitter HTV onto the back of the ornament and use E6000 super glue to glue the bail to the top.

Let dry completely.

Apply your arabesque ornament vinyl design to the front!

With HTV on the back, any way you look at these ornaments (from the front or back), they look amazing!

Can you still do this if you have already decorated the front of the tile.
