How to Apply Adhesive Vinyl Using the Center Hinge Method
Bundle promotions in this post have expired - you can find the fonts we used HERE and HERE.
This step by step tutorial will show you how to apply adhesive vinyl using the center hinge method.
We created this Christmas charger plate for Santa using the Merry Merry Font and the Merry Magic Christmas Doodle Font from the Best Fonts Bundle.
Cut and weed your design out of adhesive vinyl. This can be done with your Cricut, Silhouette, Scan N Cut or another die cutting machine.
Add transfer paper to your design. We are using our favorite red squeegee. Trim around the edges.
Wipe the charger plate surface with rubbing alcohol.
Flip your design over and remove the backing.
Place your design onto a piece of parchment paper and trim around the design.
Remove the parchment paper backing and cut down the center of it.
Place the parchment paper onto the back of your design but leave a small gap down the center.
Press the center of the design down. This has now created a "center hinge".
Carefully lift one side to remove the parchment paper and press your design down.
Repeat with the other side.
When you apply adhesive vinyl using the center hinge method, you have less chance of wrinkles or puckering of the vinyl. This technique works well on all surfaces, including curved areas of mugs, cups, and tumblers.
