DIY Dollar Tree Home Decor: How to Apply Vinyl to Planter Pots

Is there anything more satisfying than a DIY transformation of a Dollar Tree item into a modern, high end looking home decor piece? In this blog post, we'll show you how easy it is to do with Dollar Tree terracotta pots, some craft paint, and adhesive vinyl.

This three pack of Dollar Tree terracotta planter pots are perfect for a DIY high end looking home decor craft project!

First, take some white acrylic paint and a foam brush and paint the terracotta pots white. Use a white matte chalk paint for a high end modern farmhouse look. Then, let dry completely.

Next, use your cutting machine of choice to cut vinyl decal labels for your terracotta pots. Use permanent adhesive vinyl like Oracal 651. Here you can get really fun and creative by using your favorite font to make custom labels.

Our DIY terracotta pots feature a farmhouse font from the Premium Font Bundle (there are 53 fonts to choose from in the font bundle!).

Use a small piece of transfer tape to transfer the vinyl decal label onto the dry, painted, terracotta planter pots. Use your finger to burnish the vinyl really, really well.

Remove the transfer tape and burnish again.

When you choose your own font and create your own vinyl decal labels, you can really transform these Dollar Tree terracotta planter pots into a really beautiful, custom, and expensive looking DIY home decor piece!

Give this project a try for yourself!

The font we used for this project is one of 53 fonts you can grab in the Premium Font Bundle.
