DIY Canvas Tote Bag Painting

In this tutorial, we'll show you how to paint a tote bag with a monogram. This is a great way to create personalized tote bags as gifts for friends and family, or simply for yourself!

Grab yourself a blank canvas tote bag and sturdy piece of cardboard. Place the cardboard inside the bag to stabilize the fabric and give you a hard surface to paint on.

Select a fun monogram design to create a stencil. There are so many monogram ideas for bags - a circle monogram, floral letter monogram, split monogram, etc. We're using this Baseball Bow Monogram Frame and circle monogram font.

Grab this baseball bow monogram frame from the Mega Monogram SVG and Font Bundle.

Cut the monogram SVG design into stencil material or adhesive vinyl, and weed.

Apply the monogram stencil to the blank canvas tote bag for painting, make sure you burnish well to seal the edges!

Use a stencil brush and acrylic paint to paint on tote bag, using a dabbing motion instead of swiping the brush side to side. Wipe off excess paint from the paint brush using a paper towel. Paint 2 light coats - letting dry between the coats.

Once the paint is dry, remove the stencil...

...and reveal your personalized tote bag!

So that, my friends, is how to paint on canvas tote bags! Give this diy canvas bag painting project a try!

Don't forget you can grab the adorable baseball/softball bow monogram frame from the Mega Monogram SVG and Font Bundle.
