Digital Patterns for Sublimation Tutorial & Free Can Cooler SVG Template
The beauty of sublimation is how vibrant, bright, and permanent the colors are - which makes it perfect for using backgrounds and digital patterns for sublimation. To use digital patterns, like those found in the , just download them from your So Fontsy account. Unzip the zip files to find the high resolution JPEG or PNG. Import into your design software. If you are using Silhouette Studio and need help on importing custom digital patterns into Silhouette Studio follow this tutorial. Open your design, shape, or template and instead of filling it with a solid color, fill it with the pattern. Most programs will give you the option to scale, rotate and re-position the pattern if you want. We created a can cooler template to match the sublimation blank can coolers. You can download the commercial use SVG template free here. You can also add other designs on top - like we did here with the monogram. Just simply place those designs OVER or IN FRONT of the pattern-filled shape. Mirror the entire shape and then send it to print on your sublimation printer. The colors will appear dull or faded when they come out of the printer. You'll need sublimation blanks - those with a polyester coating or at least 65% polyester blend - to get the best results. We used these white can coolers found on Amazon. Use high temperature tape to keep the sublimation print in position over the polyester blank while you're pressing at 400 degrees for 1 minute. The tape will keep the print in place so it doesn't move and cause ghosting when the heat press opens or closes. Sublimation just gives such amazing results with colors digital patterns!
